For my senior seminar's second project, I created a design and mockup for a Birchbox box. Birchbox is a monthly subscription service company where every month subscribers receive a box of samples of makeup or other beauty-related products. Every month, these boxes come in different designs that reflect a monthly theme.
I chose to do this for a project because while I do not really wear make-up that frequently (only when I am either a.) needing to wear it for a special occasion or b.) when my mother forces me to), I really love their boxes and the designs that come with them. In fact, these designs are one of the many inspirations for design that I have.
Considering that summer is just around the corner, I thought to make a design that involved watermelon, one of the most well known staples of summer. With that in mind, I created a watermelon with triangles made with the polygon shape tool and edited with the pen tool in Photoshop. This shape I made into a pattern to be used in making the pattern for the box.
